Outdoor Amplified Sound Permits are required for qualifying events held on commercial private property within Town limits.

*Any amplified sound event operating without a permit may result in a 12-month suspension from future permits and may be subject to additional penalties under the Town noise ordinance.
Additional Information
The Town's Code of Ordinances updates governing outdoor amplified sound supersede applicable Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) provisions related to amplified sound activities. Outdoor amplified sound permits apply only within Town of Mooresville limits and only to commercial private property.

2. Why did the Town adopt these regulations?
The Town adopted these regulations to establish clear standards for outdoor amplified sound, improve consistency in enforcement, and balance the needs of businesses and nearby property owners.
3. Who needs to obtain a permit?
Commercial businesses, including restaurants, bars, breweries, event venues, and other businesses located within the Town of Mooresville limits, will be required to obtain a permit before hosting outdoor amplified sound activities.
4. What types of amplified sound require a permit?

5. Will I receive my $500 deposit back?
Yes. Deposits are refundable provided the event complies with all permit requirements, decibel limitations, ordinance provisions, and enforcement conditions. 6. How far in advance should I apply?
Applications should be submitted as early as possible to allow sufficient time for Town review and approval, but no later than 14 days prior to the event date.

8. What if my business shares a property line with another business?
If the proposed outdoor amplified sound event is located on a property that abuts another business, the applicant must obtain written acknowledgment or approval from the adjoining business owner or tenant. Documentation must be submitted to the Town no later than seven (7) calendar days prior to the event date.
9. Can I transfer a permit to another date or event?
No. Permits are issued for a specific event, date, time, and location and may not be transferred without Town approval.
10. Does receiving a permit guarantee approval of future events?
No. Each application is reviewed individually, and approval is based on compliance with ordinance requirements, permit availability, location restrictions, and potential conflicts with other permitted activities.
11. What if my property is located outside the Town of Mooresville limits?
The Outdoor Amplified Sound Permit ordinance applies only within the Town of Mooresville limits. Properties located outside Town limits are not subject to this ordinance.
12. Can I place speakers, tents, tables, or chairs on a sidewalk, street, or other public property?
No. The permit does not authorize the use of public right-of-ways or the placement of speakers, equipment, tents, tables, chairs, or structures on public property without separate approvals.
